The Organization of Islamic Cooperation held the Expert Group Meeting on OIC Youth Strategy at its Headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on the OIC Strategy on Youth, during the 8th and 9th of January, 2018.
Attended by the members of OIC Permanent Joint Committee on Youth Affairs, the meeting was headed by His Excellency the Ambassador Salih Mutlu SEN the Permanent Representative of Turkey to the OIC.
The meeting witnessed the presence of His Excellency the Amb. Hesham YOUSSEF the Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr. Elshad H. Iskandarov from the ICYF-DC and Mr. Mohammed Saleh AL-GARNAS the Secretary General of ISSF.
The Amb. Hesham YOUSSEF delivered the speech of His Excellency Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad AL-OTHAIMEEN and said that the “ 1st Draft of the “Youth Strategy” which was prepared after the First Ministerial Conference for Youth held in Jeddah in 2014, will be presented to the next Ministerial Conference for Youth to be held in Azerbaijan during May 2018. He called upon the “Statistical, Economic, Social Research & Training Center” (SESRIC) in Ankara, to add the observations noted over the past period, by the countries concerned, to the text complete the Draft.
The Amb. Hesham YOUSSEF said that there is a half Billion Muslim Youth in the World, giving the Islamic World a demographic advantage that must be invested to achieve the changes and development in the Member States of OIC.
During The two-day meeting, participants discussed the Youth Strategy Document in the light of the Resolutions and Recommendations made by the related Islamic and Ministerial Summits and Conferences to finalize the version prior to presenting the document to the next Islamic Conference of Youth & Sport Ministers to be held in Baku to adopt the document as a “Joint Reference” for the Islamic World ( being one of the priorities of the ten-year Working Plan of OIC, up to the year 2025) in the frame of empowering the Youth for Peace, Solidarity and Development.
