Held from 8 to 20 April 2005, the 1st Islamic Solidarity Games “Saudi Arabia 2005” was organized in four cities: Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Madina Al-Munawarah, Jeddah, Taif, with the participation of 4248 participants from 54 countries. The 1st Games sports program included athletics, swimming, diving, water polo, fencing, lawn tennis, table tennis, weight lifting, football, basketball, volleyball, handball, taekwondo, karate, equestrian, five-a-side football for intellectual impairment and target ball for sight impairment.
