2nd International Solidarity Tennis Championship kicks off

The 2nd International Solidarity Tennis Championship kicks off on Monday 23th July, 2018 at the Academy of Tennis in Baku, Azerbaijan, with the presence of:
- Chingiz HUSEYNZADA, ISSF Vice-President NOC Azerbaijan Vice-President;
- Mohammed S. AL GARNAS, ISSF Secretary-General, and
- Ismayil ISMAYILOV, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan.
The following fifteen NOCs took part in the Championship:
Azerbaijan, Albania, Tajikistan, Iraq, Mozambique, Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Libya, Maldives, Bahrain, Uganda, Senegal, Russia and Belarus.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Chingiz HUSEYNZADA delivered a speech, in which he welcomed all participants and pointed out that this 2nd Championship represents the first event of the serial of activities agreed upon, to be organized in accordance with the MoU signed between the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) and the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan.
Dr. HUSEYNZADA praised the support provided to stage this championship, by the ISSF and assured that Azerbaijan welcomes the close cooperation with the ISSF.
Afterwards Mr. Ismail ISMAILOV addressed the meeting and pointed out that the Ministry of Youth & Sport in Azerbaijan welcomes rendering the hosting of events and activities of ISSF, especially after the remarkable success accomplished during the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in “Baku 2017”.
Then, the ISSF Secretary General Mr. Mohammed S. AL GARNAS gave a speech, in which he transferred the greetings of the ISSF President HE Turky bin Abdulmohsen AL-ALSHEIKH and his wishes of success to all participants.
Mr. AL GARNAS referred to the success of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games “Baku 2017” which was accomplished due to the great Potentials of Azerbaijan and the continual support rendered by the President of Azerbaijan leading to keep investment of the success of 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games & signing on the Agreement of Cooperation with the NOC of Azerbaijan. Mr. AL GARNAS expressed his thanks to all participating countries in the championship in Baku and extended his welcome to the friendly countries taking part in the Championship and wished them all success.
The 2nd International Solidarity Tennis Championship was held for singles & double for men and women, with the total prizes money of US $ 20.000 (twenty thousand dollars).
