Jeddah hosts the 28th ISSF Executive Board Meeting
The Members of ISSF Executive Board, held their 28th Meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to debate preparations for 5th Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in Istanbul, Turkey in 2021.
At the beginning of the meeting and on behalf of the ISSF President His Honorary Turky bin Abdulmohsen AL-ALSHEIKH, the Secretary General of ISSF Mr. Mohammed Saleh AL-GARNAS welcomed all the ISSF Executive Board members in their Second Home, Saudi Arabia (the land of Two Holy Mosques, the Cradle where Islam Message has initiated and the “Qibla” of all Muslims”).
Mr. Al-GARNAS said” this meeting is important and it proves the value of the joint efforts exerted by all Muslim Countries in the process of achieving the ISSF objectives of prevailing solidarity, fraternity among the Muslim Youth and upgrading their works & strengthening the roots of Islamic values among the Youth of our Muslim Nation”.
He added “my thanks go to His Honorary Turky bin Abdulmohsen AL-ALSHEIKH, the ISSF president for his great support and the attentive follow-ups of our job enabling us to fulfil the aspirations of ISSF Member States & to contribute to the development of sport. My thanks are, also, extended to all members of the ISSF Executive Board for their effectual efforts, support and follow-ups they have shown to achieve the targets.
We are looking forward to seeing aspirations of all Member NOCs are achieved in the near future and to seeing the ISSF taking the position it is deserving together with other International Sports Bodies.”
The Minutes of 27th Meeting of ISSF Executive Board, was reviewed and duly approved and the Report of the 4th Islamic Conference of Youth & Sport Ministers was also reviewed the preparations of holding the Indoor Solidarity Games for Youth were reviewed as well.
The meeting has witnessed the signing of a number of MoUs with some NOCs, and witnessed, also, the start of the implementation of the Strategy of Sport adopted by the Previous Meeting of ISSF executive Board.
The meeting has, also, seen the approval of holding a number of championships and projects such as the 5th Weightlifting Championships in Egypt during next December, the 3rd Archery Championships in Bangladesh and the 1st Championship of Youth in Saudi Arabia.
Granting the “Trophy of Excellence in Sport” to the Islamic Countries has been approved in the meeting as well as the project of Islamic Sports Capital City.
However, the ISSF Executive Board is currently studying holding a number of competitions in the future such as the Championship of Taekwondo in Alger, Wrestling in Uganda, and the Jujutsu in Indonesia.
